Engineered for dedicated gardeners, this three-tine cultivator is a testament to robust American craftsmanship. Handcrafted in the USA and featuring a sturdy stained and waxed hickory handle, this tool is designed to take on the toughest garden tasks with ease. Originating from a tradition of quality forged tools, this cultivator excels in breaking apart hard soil clumps compacted by winter weather, loosening planting beds, and encouraging healthy, aerated ground for flourishing plants. Beyond cultivation, it doubles as an effective weeding implement and is ideal for mixing soil amendments, scraping debris from underneath shrubs, and creating a fine dust mulch layer to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Heavier and more durable than typical three-tine cultivators, this tool is crafted to last through many seasons of rigorous garden care. Whether you’re preparing beds for spring planting or maintaining your established garden, it offers versatility and strength that meet the practical needs of serious gardeners. Perfect for home gardeners, small nurseries, or landscaping enthusiasts seeking a dependable hand tool that combines traditional materials and functional design, this cultivator makes soil management easier and more efficient.

A three-tine cultivator is a strange, multi-purpose tool that most people have and do not understand its original purpose. Ours is heavy duty to withstand that hard work of breaking up clumps of soil and loosening beds after being compacted by the winter weather. It is also good for weeding. And, of course, like any cultivating tool it is a beast for mixing in amendments, scraping out leaves and build up from under shrubs, and creating a dust mulch in the top inch or so of soil. Average in size and much heavier duty than other three tine cultivators, its has a stained and waxed hickory handle. Great for working in planting beds.

Hand-Forged, Artisan Garden Tools Made in the USA since 1989
At Red Pig Garden Tools, we are the only blacksmiths in the United States specializing in a full range of hand-forged garden tools for home gardeners, nurserymen, landscapers, and farmers. Our Piginor by Red Pig Garden Tools is a limited line of everyday use tools that we hand forge in our workshop in Oregon. We offer these alongside our regular Red Pig Garden Tools line. Tools in the Piginor line are slightly lighter than our wider line of Red Pig Garden Tools outside of Piginor. Additionally, they have some design modifications to make sure little to no specialized knowledge is needed to effectively use them. In addition to using USA manufactured steel, doing all the metalwork in our shop by hand in Oregon, we use hickory handles that are made for us in the USA.
We've been producing hand-forged implements and selling garden tools since 1989. Making nearly 200 different tool varieties as part of our standard offering, and hundreds of custom tools per year, we match gardeners with the perfect tools to suit their needs.
From our workshop in Oregon, we also offer maintenance and sharpening of non-power pruning and other edged tools, re-handling, restoration, repair and custom tool making in addition to offering many products - shovel, pruners, rakes, and gloves to name a few.
The core customers who have helped us build Red Pig Garden Tools into what it is becoming today are the local garden club members and Master Gardeners nationwide. Countless numbers of these amazing, knowledgeable gardeners have been buying our tools and spreading the word about us for many years.
Whether you are a master gardener yourself, a regular home gardener, or an experienced small farmer you will find tools from Red Pig Garden Tools to be heavier duty, longer lasting, and stronger than any other tools available.
High-quality, Long-lasting, and Made-by-hand in USA - the Red Pig Garden Tools Legacy
It was in 2016, at the Master Gardeners of Clackamas County Spring Garden Fair, where Seth first met his mentor Bob Denman, original founder of Red Pig Garden Tools and saw upon a teal table cloth many of the amazing hand tools Bob was selling. (The same fair is held in Canby, Oregon the week before Mother's Day in May every year, so come find us there if you haven't seen us in person before).
At the time, Bob was in his 70s and intended to sell the business or wind it down. After meeting at the Garden Fair, Bob offered to teach Seth how to make tools and be a blacksmith. Over the next several months, Seth began to learn tool history, tool design, blacksmithing and the wide range of skills and processes necessary to make the 200+ different types of tools for which Red Pig Garden Tools is known.
As Seth's skills developed over the next 18 months, he and Bob began to shape an arrangement that would let Seth buy and take over Red Pig Garden Tools so that many more people in the future could continue to enjoy and have access to Red Pig Garden Tools.
At the end of the year 2017, Seth took over Red Pig Garden Tools, including all the day-to-day of making and selling the tools. Since then, Seth has personally made 25,000+ garden tools, and along with two assistants continues to build new tools, create outdoor artwork and sculpture, and take on custom blacksmithing projects, from architectural work like railings and trellises to making unique, historical reproductions of home goods.
